The Studio

I am fortunate to have a large, light filled studio to work in. My space has always been an important part of my process.  It’s where my ideas take shape and I find my rhythm. It’s my sanctuary of inspiration. I need this space to think, dream and let my work unfold at its own pace. I try not to have too much of a plan when I go, just let the work envelope me.

This space allows me to step away from the noise of daily life and seclude myself and take a deep dive into my process. I always feel the freedom here to explore and keep things in motion. Often rotating through work, with different themes and sometimes different materials. But most of the time, I am drawn to exploring with oil…in mark making and color interactions. I love it most when my work becomes experimental and playful. That is when I know I am truly in the right place.

I enjoy inviting others into my studio as well. It feels like an extension of that openness. My hope is that the sense of calm, balance and vitality I find here while working, travels with the paintings into the spaces where they live.

Inspirations

In life and art, I am always seraching for balence. I think we all are in some way or other. In the midst of my vibrant and colorful life, I also seek peace and calm. A vibrant calm through colors, raw abstraction -both perceived and real, and the emotions that lie under the surface.

This quest for balance is behind each and every piece that I set out to create. I am very in tune with the colors all around me; their intersections with each other and also how they affect and play beutifully with my emotions.

My hope is that my work exhibits this same vibrating harmony to others.
